July 11 is the anniversary of the birthday of E.B. White
, author of many children's books including Charlotte's Web
, Stuart Little
, and The Trumpet of the Swan
. This week I learned of the E.B White Read Aloud Award that was established in 2004 by the American Association of Booksellers for Children to honor books that "reflect universal read aloud standards". The award is given in the categories of Picture Books and Older Readers. I am always looking for new ideas for books to read to my children. I hope you enjoy looking for these books at your local library. Our family's favorite from the list is 2004 award winner Skippyjon Jones
